Waterproof vs Water Resistant
When you see a car cover advertised as “waterproof” and “water resistant” in descriptions, you might think that those two terms are interchangeable. While they do seem incredibly similar, they convey very different meanings and should be taken into consideration when choosing an outdoor car cover
Waterproof means that the material will always repel water. They do not let water penetrate the material for any reason whatsoever. This material will cause a problem in high-moisture climates.
Water-resistant means that the fabric has been treated to repel water from their surfaces, and any amount of water that finds its way into the fabric will do so in a slow amount of time essentially evaporating before fully penetrating the material.
Water Resistance & Breathability
Waterproof fabric, by its nature, doesn’t let anything through its surface, and this includes air. This becomes problematic for covers. When air and moisture get trapped underneath a cover, mold and mildew can grow and cause serious problems if not properly vented.
Hail Shelter™ uses only water-resistant materials because breathability is essential in keeping a car protected from many types of conditions.
