Why was the Hail Shelter Car Cover created? We realized after the 2016’s July storm that destroyed so many vehicles in Colorado that there was a need for a product to protect vehicles from the devastation of hailstorms, but nothing existed. We researched lots of products to see if anything would protect our cars but found nothing. Sure, there is a bubble and a pop-up umbrella on the market, but what if you are not home to activate the bubble or the umbrella? What if you are away from your vehicle when the storm comes? What if your car is parked at the airport when the storm comes? These were questions that had to be answered when looking for a true protection against hail.
We knew something had to be created, because we couldn’t just continue to let our vehicles get destroyed without doing anything about it, so we took matters into our own hands. We began looking for materials that we can combine for maximum protections. The earlier models were no match for the storms. They were either too brittle and didn’t hold up against our severe testing, and others were just too heavy which made them inconvenient. The ones just the right weight and strength, were not dense enough and failed miserably against our strenuous tests. They just fell short of providing the type of protection needed against the extreme hailstorms.

What are Hail Shelter Car Covers? During our research we received lots of feedback from our testing. From this feedback we came up with the best and most practical solution to protect your vehicle from hail damage.

The Hail Shelter Original tested well against "Pool Ball" (2.25") size hail. We combine three amazingly innovative materials to form 9 layers of maximum protection. The first order of defense is a breathable material that features 4 ultrasonically welded layers to ensure 100% water-resistant protection. This material consists of three layers of polypropylene that rest on top of a fully water-resistant membrane. The second material is a patented product that protects against high-impact collisions. We spent over a year testing this layer to ensure it held up to even the most strenuous of tests, which it does as you can see from our test videos. Underneath this impact-resistant product is another patented material that features two layers of bicomponent Spunbond material with a Meltblown Barrier Layer that sit on top of a soft, Bicomponent Spunbond Layer that provides a non-abrasive protection for your car.
The Hail Shelter Original is designed with 9-Layers of high-impact absorption material on the horizontal (Hood/Roof/Trunk) angles and upper corners of your vehicle. The vertical angles are made with 6-Layer protection against light impact hail, dings, & scratches which is usually sufficient as the vertical angles don't typically absorb hail's direct impact.
Why doesn't the Hail Shelter Original have extreme hail protection on the vertical angles of the cover? After collecting data for many years from the insurance industry on hail-damaged vehicles, we have learned that the areas most susceptible to hail damage were the horizontal angels of the vehicle, windshield, back window, and the corners. Our covers are designed to protect against hail that causes 99% of vehicle damage. The natural design of our covers drapes over the side mirrors for maximum durability and added protection to the side windows as well as to the areas just below.

The HS-6L Tested well against Dime size hail (1/2"). Our heavy duty, six woven layer car cover is designed to protect against Light Hail & Dings. Most companies offer only a 3 to 4 Layer cover, whereas Hail Shelter offers Six woven Layers of superior protection. The HS-6L Cover is a 100% water resistant cover engineered with 6 ultrasonically welded layers to ensure 100% water-resistant protection. It's made of breathable double-stitching to keep water out, yet its innovative design allows the material to breathe and moisture to wick away or evaporate. Three breathable non-woven layers rest on top of a fully water-resistant membrane. Underneath the water-resistant membrane is another breathable non-woven layer, followed by a soft fleece liner allowing the fabric to "breathe" and will keep your investment fully protected against some of the harshest weather conditions. Together these six layers protect your investment from light hail impact, water, ice, snow, sun UV rays, dust, dirt, mud, mold, mildew, tree sap, bird droppings, dings, and more.
