The Hail Shelter Original is designed with 9-Layers of high-impact absorption material on the horizontal (Hood/Roof/Trunk) angles and upper corners of your vehicle. The vertical angles are made with 6-Layer protection against light impact hail, dings, & scratches which is usually sufficient as the vertical angles don't typically absorb hail's direct impact.
Why doesn't the Hail Shelter Original have extreme hail protection on the vertical angles of the cover? After collecting data for many years from the insurance industry on hail-damaged vehicles, we have learned that the areas most susceptible to hail damage were the horizontal angels of the vehicle, windshield, back window, and the corners. Our covers are designed to protect against hail that causes 99% of vehicle damage. The natural design of our covers drapes over the side mirrors for maximum durability and added protection to the side windows as well as to the areas just below.
Why was the Hail Shelter™ Car Cover created? We realized after the 2016’s July storm that destroyed so many vehicles in Colorado that there was a need for a product to protect vehicles from the devastation of hailstorms, but nothing existed. We researched lots of products to see if anything would protect our cars but found nothing. Sure, there is a bubble and a pop-up umbrella on the market, but what if you are not home to deploy the bubble or the umbrella? What if you are away from your vehicle when the storm comes? What if your car is parked at the airport when the storm comes? These were questions that had to be answered when looking for a true 24/7 protection against hail.
We knew something had to be created, because we couldn’t just continue to let our vehicles get destroyed without doing anything about it, so we took matters into our own hands. We began looking for materials that we can combine for maximum protections. The earlier models were no match for the storms. They were either too brittle, too heavy, or not dense enough to offer the protection needed.
After over two years of research, trial & error, failed attempts, we believe we came up with the best protection against hailstorms with our Hail Shelter™ Car Covers.
What is the Hail Shelter™ Original Car Cover? We combine three amazingly innovative materials to form 9 layers of maximum protection. The first order of defense is a breathable material that features 5 ultrasonically welded layers to ensure 100% water-resistant protection. This material consists of three layers of polypropylene that rest on top of a fully water-resistant membrane. Under the water-resistant membrane is another breathable liner. The second material is a patented impact absorption product that protects against high-impact collisions. Underneath this impact-absorption product is another patented material that features two layers of bicomponent Spunbond material with a Meltblown Barrier Layer that sit on top of a soft, Bicomponent Spunbond Layer that provides a non-abrasive protection for your car.
Together these nine layers protect the vehicle from water, ice, snow, dust, dirt, mud, mold, mildew, tree sap, UV sun rays, and most important, it protects your vehicle against hail.
